Each classroom will receive a set of the Accountable talk stems that can be used in small or large group collaboration. These stems support student learning of the rituals and routines of respect while demonstrating clarification of understanding in purposeful discussions. This tool can be used in instructional discussions, small or whole group discussions, peer to peer conferences, student and teacher conferences, presentations, and interviews. Students learn how to “respectfully” disagree with their peers, and learn how to look at evidence as it supports thinking and reasoning. Accountable talk stems link student claims to evidence as well as checking the quality of claims and arguments. Questions, click here.
